After three years and eleven (yes ELEVEN) roomies, I have finally found a room to call my fierce yet peaceful sanctuary in Brooklyn.
I took advantage of a room I always loved within my own apartment, and moved right in as my roomie was moving out to a new Brooklyn spot. After a year of crushing, I finally snagged the room I always wanted. This room is extra special, because not only does it represent my easiest move yet (10 feet down the hall babe!) but it is giving me the greatest gift of all, a bay window. My previous room was windowless, which led me down a dark, stuffy, hot existence. In New York, you take what you can afford, and I took a sad windowless room. I forgot how romantic a warm summer breeze feels in the evening, it's like Denzel Washington kissing every inch of you. I fell asleep listening to children laughing and dancing in the summer heat. This morning, the sunlight greeted me and inspired my feet to jump out of bed and carpe that diem! After a year without a window, I have learned to never take advantage of fresh air and that I would be absolutely, terribly depressed in prison. I have seen the light and it's even more beautiful than I remembered.
